This project was a collaboration between Hershey High School and the Hershey/Derry Township Historical Society. It is funded by a generous grant from the History Channel, and was selected as one of eleven nationwide grants.
The project was conceived by Hershey High School Social Studies teacher Jeff Mummert, and the grant application was completed and submitted by Mummert with the support of Carole Hite-Welch and Nikki Soliday of the Hershey/Derry Township Historical Society.
Students became involved in the project through several approaches. Twelve seniors participated in the project to meet the requirements of their Senior Graduation Project, thirty students in World Cultures II submitted essays for the project, and twenty Hershey High School students volunteered.
